Artical of the Week

 

    Love universally is an intense feeling of emotional attraction and many people especially in the pop culture find it horrible and unpredictable, and it will break you and make you wish you hadn’t fallen in love in the first place.  “Loretta, I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn’t know this either, but love don’t make things nice, it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess. We aren’t here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and die.” this is from the pop culture movie ‘MoonStruck’ and it shows the horrible characteristics that love is and how it is portrayed . So my thesis about love is that, Love is a very powerful thing that can change you in a good way, people just tend to see what’s in front of them and not the bigger picture.

Love is a powerful thing because it attracts are minds as well as our hearts and makes us want something until we have it. “With love’s light wings did I o’erperch these walls;For stony limits cannot hold love out”(Romeo and Juliet). In this quote it shows that love is powerful and in the context of the story Romeo is attracted by Juliet and is compelled by his heart and mind from her beauty and believes that his love cannot even be contained. As well as “I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold, Or all the riches that the East doth hold”(To my dear and loving husband). And this shows the power of love because above all materialistic things that people ‘find’ happiness in she says love is greater than the riches of the east! And in a way she has all the riches of the east and more so she got what she wanted when she fell in love with her husband.

Love can make you struggle with situations that later define who you will become as a person. Here are two quotes to show what I mean. “Her mind only vaguely grasped what he was saying. Her physical being was for the moment predominant. She was not thinking of his words, only drinking in the tones of his voice. She wanted to reach out her hand in the darkness and touch him with the sensitive tips of her fingers upon the face or the lips. She wanted to draw close to him and whisper against his cheek — she did not care what — as she might have done if she had not been a respectable woman¨(The respectable women). To break it down this shows a women, that is struggling to deal with her lust of her husbands friend but, this isn’t the struggling of love that is portrayed but what isn’t said that is the true struggle. She struggles to fight the temptations because she knows her husband wouldn’t want her to do the things she’s thinking and because of the love for her husband she fights and struggles to resist. and “Oh,” she told him, laughingly, after pressing a long, tender kiss upon his lips, “I have overcome everything! you will see. This time I shall be very nice to him”( A respectable women). And with this it is confirmed at the end of the story that after her overcoming her struggling she ultimately formed a more firm love and relationship with her husband. She even trust herself enough to have his friend come back again and kisses her husband harder compared to before where it just says she kissed him. Thus showing my point that through the struggles of love it defined her into who she had become in the end. A “Respectable women”.

 

Love can and will blind you of the truth if you let it. “I knew nothing more, nothing. I saw a priest, who said: ‘Your mistress?’ and it seemed to me as if he were insulting her”( Was it a dream). With this it’s clear that this guy is blinded by the truth because he thinks the priest is making a joke of his decease girlfriend but in reality priest are very trustworthy people! He didn’t even take the time to realize that and the love was so powerful he was blinded and unaware of the truth that was right in front of him. The other quote to back me up is “it is weight it is weight and it is too heavy to feel good sometimes”(What love isn’t). Now with this you really have to think about it a little more. It states that love is like a weight and the good times can’t be felt because in other words the weight of love blinds one of the things that are right in front of them. This clearly proves my point that because of the powerful amount of toll or weight that it brings to you it will actually blind you and not let you see the bigger picture!

In conclusion love is an unpredictable, yet powerful thing that will alter you as a person whether you like it or not and if you look at the bright side of love you will always be happy as an individual and in a relationship.

What is my personal legend? I have asked myself this question countless times. More of a ” what is my purpose in life” question but, if I were to say that my personal legend is clear as day…well I’ll be the biggest lair known to man. I don’t have full clarity. I’m blessed to live in America where I have so many opportunities. My personal Legend I think right now would have to be finding it. At the same time I think I already found my legend( do you find this complicated? You are not alone, so do I!) Follow me into the world of Michael!

 

Now when I say I have one I’m serious. Ever since I was little I loved the military. I dressed up like an army man in elementary and some inner drive almost seems to want me to do it. I believe in God and I ask him a lot what my purpose in life is and why he put me in the world for and it’s been definitely leaning to Navy Seals. Seals are a highly trained special forces that took out Osama Bin Laden and executed countless other high scale missions in its history since WW ll. But the tricky party is I’m not 100%. Some days I am and other days I’m not. I count this as one of my trails. Not being 100% confident is building me up that even when you’re not sure about something you sure as heck better execute it like you know what your doing….and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. I like keeping this part of my life secret so people don’t think I’m boasting in any way because that’s the last thing I want people to think but, to get my point across I guess i will have to share a little. I workout a lot…and I mean a lot! My week in total consist of pull ups, running, school, running, push-ups, running school, sit-ups, push-ups, swimming, more swimming, more pull-ups( more everything to be honest)

 

Now, this is all preparing me for Navy Seals and the physical test and mental test I’m going to have to face along the way aka the second trial. During the infamous hell week of Navy seals, candidates are required in 5 in a half days, 200 miles of running( 2 marathons worth of running day for those of you that didn’t know) countless push-ups, sit-ups, rowing, swimming, dips, pull-ups, flutter kicks and so much more that even I forgot( Did I mention they get 2-3 hours of sleep a day?!!!) and now you see why I’m trying to take this Navy Seal thing so seriously, its honestly no joke. The people that are gonna help me along the way are gonna be my instructors who give negative comments towards me to try and make me quit, this is their intentions but really they want to see who can truly go through a hardship of struggle, through the pain and screaming of negativity and still do the evolution at task. The biggest helper of getting me to my goal is by far my parents. Whenever I have doubts about God’s plan for my life, my mom always reassures to me that she believes that this is what God is calling me to do in life. And my dad just 2 days ago actually talked to the swim coach and I’m now on the swim team so I can practicing swimming because my pool just closed on the first of October! (The struggle is real my friends…the struggle is real) But all in all this is my personal goal. And you know what’s funny! This actually gave me some clarification on my own personal legend…I don’t know why I’m saying this but thanks Mrs. Williams for assigning this blog. Peace out.

 

 

 

In the article Matthew hammers Florida, Begins Dayslong Beating of the Coast by Mike Schneider and Kelli Kennedy  it talks about how there is a hurricane that is going to hit Florida, Georgia and South. And the president at the time, Barack Obama declared a state of emergency for these states and many people have moved inland to places like Charlotte, North Carolina and the issue is that there is a hurricane coming and many people were told to evacuate but many people decided not to leave and just hope for the best which isn’t the smartest thing to do in this situations because when “A family called in that the roof just flew off their home on Merritt Island,” it a clear indicator that you shouldn’t have been in the house to notice the roof fly off in the first place! It’s a hurricane for crying out loud! Get out of its path…”You need to leave, if you do not leave you will be on your own” said Mayor Curry…the pure wrath of nature should compel you to leave and you should not test it, for natural has proven time and time again that it’s unpredictable and doesn’t have a clear motif whatsoever!

With the issue of not evacuating some things that caught my eye when I was reading was he stated that “Overnight, it was scary as heck. That description of a freight train is pretty accurate. At one point it felt like the windows were going to blow even though they all were covered with plywood,” and it got me thinking because it better visualized the experience and gave me almost a dejected feelings toward the people that truly have to experience this! Another thing I would like to point out is “You know, we pray a lot and trust God to provide.” and the reason I felt compelled to really think about this is that this truly is the best way and to be honest the only way to truly be safe of a hurricane because like I stated before is that hurricanes and nature itself is unpredictable and is truly in Gods hands if he wants things destroyed or not.

This article to me kind of reminds me of the movie 2012 when people thought the world was gonna end and some people had a chance to try and escape while other people just hoped for the best, and also there were hurricanes in the movie so it basically the same as this Florida hurricane except its not the end of the world, just tearing down and flooding a small region of the earth like visualized in this picture…it’s remiss when the people just don’t do anything because i feel like they have a duty to help others and help their families at the same time get to safety
